Weather, news and headline translation
While the site is open, it connects to MET Norway and The Thaiger public APIs. Weather uses fixed Chiang Mai coordinates, not your GPS location.
For a non-English language, only the public English headline and selected target language are sent to MyMemory (Translated). We do not send form entries, names, contact details, private messages, secrets or browsing history to translation. Providers receive ordinary connection information, including IP addresses.
MyMemory’s terms allow submitted segments to be retained long-term and processed by partner machine-translation providers. Translations are unreviewed and may be wrong or unavailable when a free quota is exhausted. Some ambiguous English constructions are clarified for translation. Suspected number, subset or negation mismatches fall back to English; these checks do not guarantee semantic accuracy. The English original, article link and publication time are retained. Selecting English does not invoke translation.
Storage on your device
Weather data and its expiry, language and display preferences may be stored in your browser. News caches are held only in memory while the page is open. Translations of public headlines are stored in browser session storage, with up to 256 entries and a reuse expiry of one day after retrieval. Expiry prevents reuse; physical removal follows the browser’s session lifecycle to reduce repeated requests. We do not create a news-subscriber database. Browser site-data controls can clear local storage.
Saved maps and location information
The saved map asks the browser for location access when you press a location button. The obtained starting point and calculated route are handled in the current page and are cleared using the clear-start control or by reloading. If location access is denied or unavailable, you can select a starting point and destination on the map. Location acquisition also depends on your browser and device.
This map does not include a function that uploads the obtained location or saved destinations to the portal server or analytics. For location services provided by your browser or operating system and the processing associated with their settings, refer to those providers’ information.
When you save a numbered destination, its number, name and coordinates are stored in this browser’s on-device database. Use the delete button for that destination to remove it. Map and routing data are stored separately for offline use and can be removed with the map-data deletion control. Removing map data and removing saved destinations are separate operations. Clearing this site’s browser data can also remove stored data and may affect other site settings.
Walking directions are reference information based on saved road data. They do not guarantee access, current hazard conditions or safe evacuation.
Advertising, external links and video
No new ad network has been added. See the analytics choices below. The Billion Connect link in our connectivity guide is an affiliate link. Clicking it routes through Impact tracking to the seller. The seller and Impact process eligible purchase attribution. No automatic tracking script has been added for this connection. Paid placements and referral links are clearly labelled and the relevant services explained. Emergency, SOS and disaster guidance remains ad-free.
External links and ordinary embedded YouTube players connect to their providers. Videos may contain provider advertising. Their privacy policies apply. Enter purchases, identity and payment details only with the seller.

Analytics and aggregate learning
Google Analytics 4 is loaded only after you select Accept analytics. No Google analytics tag or analytics request is started before consent or after refusal.
When enabled, we count public page views, fixed guide-navigation actions and a 75% reading milestone. Google receives ordinary connection data such as IP address, device/browser information, page details and cookie-based browser identifiers. This is not a claim of fully anonymous traffic. Our events omit URL queries/fragments, referrer URLs, form and budget/memo input, names, emails, booking details and precise location. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled.
Your choice is stored on this browser for up to 180 days; analytics cookies are configured for 180 days. Use Privacy settings in the footer to withdraw. Refusal removes this site's GA cookies and reloads the page to stop further analytics. It does not erase previously sent aggregates. All guides and planning tools work without consent.
New analytics events are excluded from SOS/practice pages and the portal emergency/disaster views; independent rescue/practice apps are unchanged. The editor uses Search Console search aggregates and consented GA4 usage to review improvements. These populations are not joined at person level. Learning data and operator reports are private. Sparse data does not establish ranking or improvement.
